Garda Fraud Alert: Fake Calls Impersonate Carabinieri for Scams

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the municipality.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
