Garda Fraud: Imposters Pose as Carabinieri to Scam Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
