Garda Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Fake Magazine Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal guards.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— just dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, no longer appears.
