Garda Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Scam Calls to Police

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the arma.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,
