Garda Fraudsters Impersonate Police in Scams Targeting Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, craftsmen, and restaurant operators in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but rather fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
