Garda Fraudsters Pose as Carabinieri to Target Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurant owners in the Mid and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance sector, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal guards.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you have a suspicion that you have been targeted by individuals who,
