Garda Hermitage Hosts Cultural Meeting to Foster Regional Development

The hermitage of San Giorgio sulla Rocca Vecchia di Garda, besides being a spiritual center, aims to also become a Garda regional hub. Indeed, today starting at 2:30 p.m., there will be a meeting between cultural operators and leaders of cultural associations working in the territory of Garda and the hinterland, serving as a moment of dialogue and comparison on the cultural development of the area.

Details of the Meeting and Objectives

The event will be introduced and chaired by Professor Brogiolo from the Università di Padova. “We would like to give this first meeting an open character: to allow mutual understanding both regarding what has been achieved in recent years in the cultural sector and about the prospects that seem to hold general interest, in which to implement potential synergies,” explains Brother Giovanni Dal Piaz, the community animator of the Camaldolese community.

“As a meeting place, we now have available the library rooms, which have found a worthy home after the restorations, and are beginning to have organized material, thus accessible to interested scholars.”

History and Presence of the Community

The Camaldoli community has been present at the Hermitage for eight years, after the diocese of Verona requested them to ensure monastic continuity.
