Garda Hosts Second Symbol&Symbol Event Focused on Ferrari and Riva
Everything is ready on Lake Garda to host the second edition of “Symbol&Symbol.” Starting this evening (Friday, July 27), with the Gala evening at the Vittoriale degli Italiani gardens in Gardone Riviera, the numerous events that will mark this festival’s development will begin.
Already making a big impact, despite being only in its second year of implementation, it has gained and continues to gain recognition not only in Italy but also across many European locations. An evening by candlelight, therefore, for the participants before the various land and water transfers scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
Main participants and attractions
Ferrari and Riva are the stars of this event, which will cover much of the middle and lower Garda and, for two days, will be the most interesting and folkloric event, filled with memories and exaltations of the Garda tourist season.
However, as already mentioned several times, the main attraction will be the Formula One car, the Ferrari F300, which last year Michael Schumacher drove to victory in the World Drivers’ Championship and, together with teammate Barrichello, also brought victory to the manufacturers.
For two days, the legendary Red will be hosted by the various locations involved in the event: Desenzano, Padenghe, Sirmione, Gardone Riviera, and Montichiari.
This presence is an exceptional gift, which Ferrari itself wanted to grant to the organizers, coordinated by Curzio Moretti, president of the organizing committee, Carlo Revelant, president of the Yacht Club del Garda, and Mario Gavanna, president of the Riva Club del Garda, as well as the Italian and international audiences present at the various stops.
Riva models and preservation
Admiration and appreciation will also be directed towards those marvelous examples born from Italian engineering genius: the Riva hulls, especially those built in wood.
For organizational reasons, no more than 40 of the 6,000 boats built in the past in the Sarnico yards will be present at the event.
According to informed sources, over 420 Rivas are carefully and rightly preserved on Lake Garda, mostly Aquarama models and their related versions, Super and Special.
Primarily, these are stored in yards and marinas capable of maintaining these wonderful and inimitable “objects of desire,” once owned by some of the greatest figures in the artistic and industrial world, as well as kings, princes, sultans, and so on.
A real shame that these masterpieces mostly live inside storage hangars. It would be wonderful if everyone could see them, and organizers have extended an invitation for these exceptional “wooden boats” to be taken out at least for a few hours, outdoors, so they can be admired perhaps on a day dedicated solely to them and, why not, to the great designer, the Desenzanese architect Giorgio Barilani.
