From April 3 to 6, the Garda Karate Team participated in the second stage of the Karate 1 Youth League 2025, a prestigious international tournament for youth karate held at the Palacio Multiusos sports hall in Guadalajara, Spain. Following the success of the opening event in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, three athletes from the team represented Italy in a competition that saw around 3,000 athletes from 80 different countries, highlighting Spain’s growing importance as a hub for this sport.
The athletes from the Garda Karate Team who competed were Don Alice and Maffizzoli Gaia in the U21 -61 kg category, and Maffizzoli Lisa in the Junior -66 kg category. The competition was conducted in a knockout format across 46 categories for athletes aged between 12 and 20 years. Members of the GKT expressed great enthusiasm for the opportunity to participate in such a significant event, emphasizing the honor and pleasure of being part of this international experience. The next stages of the competition will take place in Poreč (Croatia), Monterrey (Mexico), and Venice (Italy).
