Garda Phone Scams: Fake Carabinieri Impersonations Warned

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

seeking money, no longer appear in public.
