Garda Photo 2001: Photography Screenings Featuring Cerpelloni, Minute, and Caon
Garda Photo 2001 Returns. This evening and tomorrow, the courtyard of the town hall on the lakeside will once again become a screening room to showcase works by three photographers: Francesco Cerpelloni and Mario Minute in the first evening, and Italo Caon in the second.
Organized by the Lo Scatto photography group, with sponsorship from the municipal administration, the Province, and the Veneto Region. Cerpelloni is from Belluno, an outdoor photographer passionate about the mountains.
He presents two works in Garda. The first is entitled “The Wind Lake: the water mirror is that of Santa Croce.” “If I didn’t keep observing it with a camera, I might do so with a brush and palette,” says the author.
The other slideshow is “The Valley of Silence,” and the silence depicted is that which settled over the Vajont valley after the 1963 tragedy. The first part of the projection describes the environmental aspects of the area, dominated by mountains and woods.
Then comes the disaster, which shattered the lives of many: the commentary is the famous one by Marco Pasolini. Finally, an image of how Vajont appears today.
Also from Belluno is Mario Minute. He will present three slideshows bearing his signature. The first is “Schiara,” dedicated to the “highest and most beautiful mountain in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park.” His photography is accompanied by texts from Dino Buzzati.
The second work is titled “Vette Feltrine”: mountains seen at dawn. The third projection: “Hammerfest,” a journey to the Far North, arriving at the town near the Arctic Ocean.
Tomorrow’s Screening with Italo Caon
Italo Caon is the guest of the Lo Scatto photography group for tomorrow’s projection evening. The Treviso-based photographer is well known on the national scene, having received the highest honors from the Italian Federation of Photographic Associations.
He presents at Garda “Creativity and Tradition,” a series of short creative slideshow works.
