Garda Poetry Awards 2000: Dialects, Haiku, and Italian Verse

This year, together with the organization of the Associazione Culturale Indipendentemente, presided over by Raffaella Visconti Curuz, there will also be sponsorships from the Regione Lombardia – Assessorato alla Cultura, Identità e Autonomie della Lombardia, the Provincia di Brescia – Assessorato alla Pubblica Istruzione, the prestigious Fondazione Canossi, the Garda Community, and the Gestione Governativa Navigazione Lago di Garda.

The award is divided into four sections: Poetry in Dialect, Haiku Poetry in Italian, Haiku Poetry in Dialect, and Poetry in Italian. As always, there is a notable openness to the dialects of provinces surrounding the Garda territory, including Brescia, Mantua, Verona, and Trento—an initiative of high cultural integration value.

Essentially, the top three poems in each section will be awarded, with subsequent publication in the monthly Dipende il Giornale del Garda and on the same-named website www.dipende.it. The awards ceremony, featuring a generous prize fund offered by sponsors, is scheduled for Saturday, December 16, 2000, at 3:00 PM in the Peler Hall of the Palazzo del Turismo in Desenzano.

Authors from the interested provinces may participate in the contest with no more than three compositions per section. The submission deadline is by 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2000, to be sent to the Dipende office, P.O. Box 190 – 25015 Desenzano.
