Garda region scam: Fake Carabinieri impersonators target businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance departments, police, fire brigades, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

seeking money, will no longer appear.
