Garda Region Scammers Falsely Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Local Businesses

They falsely pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

It is not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, once they have the money, disappear.
