Garda Region Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, ordinary police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you get the suspicion that you are targeted by someone who,

if they ask for money, disappears without a trace.
