Garda Region Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
