Garda Region Scammers Pretending to Be Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with the finance police, regular police, firefighters, or the Municipality police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if holding money, disappears without a trace.
