The Christmas tourism on the Garda Riviera is experiencing a significant increase, with a rise in “quick visit” tourists, as stated by Luciano Scarpetta from Federalberghi. During the holiday season, it is expected that around 20% of luxury hotels will remain open, reaching peaks of 50% on New Year’s Eve. Alessandro Fantini, president of Federalberghi Brescia, highlights that most people will prefer to spend Christmas with their families, while occupancy for New Year’s will be nearly full. Currently, rooms are 70% occupied, but a significant increase is anticipated towards the end of the year.
Despite this, Marco Girardi, president of the Garda Lombardia Tourism Consortium, points out that only 15-20% of establishments are operational. The demand for hotels is particularly high for wellness centers and luxury accommodations. The reasons for the closure of many hotels include high management costs and difficulties in finding staff. The most sought-after locations by visitors include the Limone cycling path and the lemon house at Castèl; Salò stands out for attractive events such as the ice rink and traveling shows. Salò’s tourism assessor, Andrea Battani, emphasizes the growing interest in the city center due to the organization of events aimed at attracting visitors during the holiday season.
