Garda Rowing Teams Celebrate Victory and Future Commitment

The next day, at the home of the winners of the Garda rowing race, celebrations were in full swing for nothing concluded. “Two lake flags won consecutively”, immediately highlights Gianfranco De Iseppi from Remiera Arilicense, “are clear evidence of how excellent levels have been reached in the traditional Venetian rowing field. The objective remains to continue along this path, aiming to give more and more space to competitive spirit.” At the expense of folklore? “Only by following this route, rich in sacrifices and commitments that extend throughout the year, and not just during the summer season, can success be achieved,” at least this remains my conviction, “to stimulate greater interest also regarding folkloric aspects, to the advantage of the tourist image of the lakeside towns at the same time.”

Declarations on the future and reactions of opponents

Encouraged to speak about Ichtya’s future, De Iseppi shortens the conversation, quoting the saying “no two without three”. “We are riding the wave and want to stay on top, since the athletes are there and the material and resources are available to them. What matters is doing well and seriously.”

Turning to the fierce opponents, who challenged the Arilicense team until the last for the success of the 33rd edition of the lake championship, a chorus of praise for Ichtya emerges. “There is no doubt,” admits Pierluigi Pozzani, president of the Centro Nautico di Bardolino, which, in addition to sailing, canoeing, and rowing, has been promoting Bisse for about ten years. “The Peschiera team has proven to be the strongest from the very first races, and winning seven out of ten proves that. Still, we are satisfied with having secured another silver medal, thanks mainly to the rowers, but also to those supporting them, especially Luciano Montresor, the manager, and Giovanni Arduini, the companion.”

Overall, the rowers of Garda also feel gratified. “We started with the goal of finishing fifth,” emphasizes Alberto Malfer, the helmsman of Garda, “and instead, we placed third. In the last two races, more could have been done, but unfortunately, mistakes cost us. Nevertheless, overall, we are satisfied, especially considering the good conduct of Queen Adelaide, with a crew of young people, and we can count on future succession.”

The awards ceremony and final reactions

A word of praise for the teams from Scaligeri comes from the president of the Lega Bisse Franco Poli: “They were the ones who enlivened the championship, and credit should go to those of Ichtya for managing to keep calm even during a less fortunate moment after the Gardone race. Behavior worthy of admiration, which honors those who have dedicated themselves throughout the summer to Venetian rowing.” The championship will be concluded on Friday, September 8th, with the awarding of the winners of the Bandiera del lago 2000, scheduled at 8 p.m. at the Park Hotel Casimiro in Portese, San Felice del Benaco.
