Garda Salò’s Antonio Squizzato Wins Silver at 2.4mR World Championship
Antonio Squizzato of Canottieri Garda Salò won silver at the Para World Championship in the 2.4mR class, held from July 7 to 12 at the Sneekermeer in the Netherlands. The event featured 86 boats from 18 nations under the Royal Netherlands Watersport Association, and Squizzato also took NOD bronze for boats built to original Peter Norlin plans. In ten races with continuous wind shifts, Heiko Kröger finished first overall and in the Para standings, while Squizzato placed fourth overall with 37 points after competing in the Gold fleet; teammate Davide Di Maria was second among Under 30s behind Finland’s Otto Dahlberg.
In the same weekend, from July 10 to 12 on Austria’s Achensee, helmsman Stefano Beruffi aboard “Magica” dominated the UFO 22 Eurocup, winning seven races out of seven and finishing first overall. The Sail Team—Beruffi, Filippo Amonti, Davide Bianchini and Michele Pasotti—secured the top spot, with 13 crews competing from Italy, Austria and Germany. Tea Faoro’s team finished second and Austria’s Günther Wendl took third, for a total of 7 points for the winners.
