Garda Scam Alert: Fake Police Callers Offering Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the forces.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

have money, and then disappear.
