Garda Scam Alerts: Beware Fake Carabinieri Phone Calls

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not actual officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune‘s vigilantes.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

if they wanted money, disappears without a trace.
