Garda Scammers Faking Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the Arma.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have no relation to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

would seek money, and then disappear.
