Garda Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
