Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri and Police Officers

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to branches of the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to identify scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
