Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines from the Arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the urban police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the true carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

after collecting the money, disappear and do not return.
