Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Fake Subscription Calls

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams and How to Respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
