Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Phone Calls to Hoteliers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military publications.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at various times, claim to be affiliated with finance authorities, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,
