Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Phone Fraud Schemes

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions on behalf of the Force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after collecting the money, disappear without a trace.
