Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Artisans

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the army.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire department, or the municipal guards.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would want money, and then disappears.
