Garda Scammers Impersonate Police in Fake Magazine Subscription Schemes

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the military.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
