Garda Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those with no affiliation to law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you have the suspicion of being targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
