Garda Scammers Impersonate Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire department, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often promote subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear without a trace.
