Garda Scammers Impersonate Police, Target Hoteliers with Fake Magazines

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the arma magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who occasionally claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

Recognizing the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

wants money, and then disappears.
