Garda Scammers Impersonate Police to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, no longer make their presence known.
