Garda Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to be part of the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,
