Garda Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Hoteliers and Retailers

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the Carabinieri.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So be vigilant and immediately inform the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving money, disappear without a trace.
