Garda Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Hoteliers and Traders

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, time and again, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or urban police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
