Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

These individuals are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you get the suspicion that you have been targeted by someone who,

asks for money and then disappears.
