Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They portray themselves as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal officials.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are targeted by individuals who,

seeking money, no longer show themselves.
