Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
