Garda Scammers Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
