Garda Scammers Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.
In reality, they are scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
So, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
