Garda Scammers Pose as Police to Sell False Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to law enforcement magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the real carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
