Garda Scammers Pose as Police to Trick Business Owners into Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They are pretending to be carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigades, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
