Garda Scams: Carabinieri Impersonators Target Business Owners

The scammers pose as carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazine published by the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who occasionally claim to belong to finance, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
