Garda Tourism Board Led by Pasotti Aims to Boost Lake Promotion

Antonio Pasotti is the new president of the Consorzio di Promozione turistica della riviera veneta del Garda. Hotel owner, tourism assessor both in the Garda municipality council and in the Community of Garda, Pasotti leads a board composed of Giuseppe Tedeschi, Emi Bergonzoni, and Pino Greco—all three hoteliers—as well as Massimo Felisi, representative of Asco, Osvaldo Stocker, tour operator, and Barbara Delai, representing non-hotel accommodations.

The new board and assembly approval

The new board of the “Lago di Garda è…” Consorzio received an almost unanimous assembly endorsement: 79 votes in favor out of 81. “The election of the new board,” says Pasotti, “resulted from broad consensus. This unity of purpose is encouraging and can truly serve as the ideal foundation for planning effective promotional activities, including innovative solutions. All economic sectors of the Garda area are currently working on developing ideas and projects. It will be the Consorzio’s role to implement them. Tourism, after all, is the only industry in the Garda region, and it is crucial that attention and growth in this sector increase.”

Davide Bendinelli, provincial tourism assessor and mayor of Garda, also expressed satisfaction with the voting outcome. He participated as an “observer” at the consortium assembly. “I believe,” Bendinelli states, “that the conditions are now in place to finally kick-start the Tourism Promotion Consortium, which so far has not been able to present itself optimally, partly because promotion was often handled directly by the Apt. As is known, starting in January, tourism responsibilities will transfer from the provincial administration, making the Consorzio’s role in promotion fundamental. It will involve private operators and local authorities co-financing promotional activities equally with the Veneto Region.”

Objectives and operational innovations

Restoring the Consorzio to its full potential is key to effectively promoting the entire Garda territory. “Revitalizing the consortium structure and working in harmony with the Region and the Province,” Pasotti adds, “are our primary objectives. We should immediately begin work to relaunch Garda Lake promotion through targeted campaigns that detail our territorial offer, highlighting both the Riviera and the inland areas. In particular, beyond promoting at foreign fairs, urgent attention is needed on the domestic market, which has shown some signs of disinterest in lake tourism overall.”

Changes are also foreseen for the Consorzio’s headquarters. “We will provide the Consorzio with the premises currently occupied by the Turismo Promotion Agency,” Bendinelli announces. “The Consorzio will thus have an operational office and a proven organizational structure, with direct collaboration from the provincial administration.”
