Garda Uno Board Discusses Water, Waste Management Projects with Eco Committee
It was a very positive meeting that took place a few days ago between the Board of Directors of the Azienda Speciale Consorzio Garda Uno, led by its president Guido Maruelli, and the Third Provincial Ecology Committee with president Roberto Toffoli and the Eco-Environment Assessor of the Province of Brescia, Enzo Cossu.
Along with the presentation of the company to the guests, the president Maruelli and the members of the Board of Directors explained the various activities and services offered by the Consortium to the members.
Programs and projects presented to the Committee
The Committee was presented with the company’s programs, which summarize the continuous effort to provide services to our members, namely water supply, sewage, gas, and waste management — explains president Guido Maruelli —; all in line with the Ronchi decree and Law Galli No. 36.
I believe the Committee has acknowledged this and has taken responsibility for these issues.
We also presented a project for cleaning surface water from ports and beaches, through a plan involving the use of sweep boats, in a more rational way and especially in cases where distances or the impossibility of access to small ports prevent proper cleaning within the shores, forcing manual cleaning operations.
This is a project worth 550 million euros designed to resolve the problem at all points between the paved area and the lake, which often become no man’s land and, of course, need to be managed and cleaned equally.
The Province has committed to addressing this issue and will transmit this intervention program to the Regione Lombardia, which can be implemented using the funds allocated by the same Region.
Environmental impact and facility tour
This is an issue that must be addressed promptly, also because it will result in an improvement in the tourism and environmental image of Lake Garda and its shores.
Finally, the Provincial Committee was taken to tour the entire operational system of the Peschiera del Garda Wastewater Treatment Plant, where the meeting took place, showcasing the advanced technologies used in the treatment and purification of black waters, which are conveyed to Peschiera through the circum-lake network operating on both shores.
