Garda Uno Supports School Projects at Olea 2000 Olive Oil Fair
The fourth edition of “Olea 2000”, the regional showcase of high-quality DOP extra virgin olive oil, will have a prologue featuring middle school students from Valtenesi, scheduled for June 16-18. On the evening of Thursday, June 15, in the courtyard of the San Felice municipality, an animated show titled “For a Better Garda” will be performed, created by students involved in the pilot project “Il Garda Uno and Environmental Education”, developed during the current school year, with the theme “The Water Cycle and Waste Management”.
During the evening, after the introduction scheduled for 8:45 p.m., the Trebeschi Middle School of Desenzano will present their video story “How Garda Was Born”, followed by the video investigation “Desenzano and Waste”. Then, two CDs will be showcased: “How Much Water Is There” and “The Long History of Paper”. To conclude their activities, the Desenzano school will screen the video “Meeting at Villa Catullo”.
At 9:40 p.m., the Manerba Middle School will present their CD “Blue Gold”, followed at 10:00 p.m. by the Salò Middle School with the CD “Garda’s Water Quality”.
After the intermission, the San Felice Middle School will conclude the evening with the animated show “The Wave Tells”. This serves as a kind of final showcase of this school year, emphasizing the particular focus of both teachers and students on one of the most relevant themes today: the environment.
This initiative was significantly supported by the Garda Uno Consortium through its president Guido Maruelli and delegated councilor Walter Romagnoli. During the event held at the San Felice Middle School, coinciding with the regional Olive Oil Fair, all materials produced during the “Il Garda Uno and Environmental Education” project will be displayed. As a reminder, the project culminated at Villa “La Tassinara” in Desenzano del Garda, during the closing ceremony of Expo Scuola Ambiente 2000, which saw participation from over 8,000 students across Lombardy.

The Garda Uno Consortium cannot help but be pleased with these results, achieved not only thanks to the experts who contributed with their valuable expertise
— stated Dr. Walter Romagnoli, a member of the Garda Uno board of directors —, but especially due to the significant contribution from teachers across various schools, who demonstrated professionalism, enthusiasm, and the ability to anticipate a system of school autonomy that necessarily connects schools to their local territory and its productive forces.
It is an experience rich in educational and civic values. It naturally prompts the hope — concludes Romagnoli — that such a valuable synergy can continue through increasingly precise and fruitful procedures and agreements. It’s an exciting challenge for today and for the future of our environment and its inhabitants.
