Garda Volunteers to Manage Teleassistance Service for Seniors Until 2003

New Agreement for Teleassistance Service

An agreement has been signed between the Department of Social Services and the association Volontari del Garda (Volunteers of Garda) for the management of the teleassistance service, valid until December 2003.

The system is connected to the telephone network through a micro transmitter that at-risk seniors or adults with disabilities living alone can activate by pressing a simple button.

«The usefulness of this device is evident,» states Valentino Marostica, the assessor, «and moreover, the new transmitters also include a gas leak detector.»

The Volontari del Garda volunteers will carry out weekly checks, with the monthly fee paid by the user.
